Reese LLP represents clients in a wide array of class actions involving Consumer Fraud, Antitrust and Securities law violations.
Reese LLP represented a small business owner against Silver Point Capital Partnership LLP, a hedge fund management firm, for actions based on fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and tortious interference with prospective economic relations. Silver Point had purchased a business owner’s debt and, despite making promises that it would act as a partner with the business owner, acted as a vulture loan company, engaging in an undisclosed “loan to own” scheme that forced the client out of his company and into Silver Point’s sole possession.
Reese LLP represented a horse trainer and small business owner in an action for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and tortious interference with prospective economic relations. The client had entered into a partnership for buying, selling, and training prize-winning horses. Her partner, the defendant, began secretly diverting clients to a new company run by the defendant and her father. Through arbitration, Reese LLP was able to obtain a significant judgment for the plaintiff.
Reese LLP has represented many clients in actions against the City of New York and various NYPD police officers under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for compensatory and punitive damages. The clients have been victims of unprovoked police brutality and false charges. Reese LLP has successfully settled most of these matters.
